Woo Hoo!

I did something today that I never thought I would do. . . I drove in Egypt. So it was only for twenty minutes and not in Cairo. That is all beside the point. I drove on the same road with all the crazy Egyptian drivers. I suddenly feel brave and able to conquer the world. ;O)

Well congrats! I use to drive all over Egypt, and I feel your thrill! During my loooong tour in the Air Force, I drove in many places Manila, Seoul, London, Rome etc. but I have NEVER driven anywhere so nutty as Egypt!! I lived closer to Alexander than Cairo, but had to go to Cairo once a week to the Embassy. Sometimes I'd enjoy the kamikaze experience, other times I'd cuss up a blue streak! Best driving though was in the Sinai, almost no traffic, good roads (built by the Israelis when they owned the place) and of course beautiful scenery.

Did you get to see much of Alex? I liked Alex much more than Cairo, but enjoyed them both. No pics? And how about some Dahab pic while I'm thinking about it!!!

I did take some pics. I will get them posted soon (en sha'alla). Alexandria is beautiful, much prettier than Cairo.
I've been to Alex twice. The first time I did all the touristy stuff (the library, the museums, etc.), and on that trip I got harassed alot. I thought I would never like Alex at all. But this time, I was away from the tourist stuff and found that Alex was very enjoyable and I didn't get harassed at all! Which is a complete miracle for me in Egypt. So now I think Alex is better than Cairo.
